How to Add/ Edit Missions?

You can add a mission, thus allowing you to plan and prepare for it in advance.  


1.  Navigate to  Plan Mission.


The Org Open Mission page is displayed. 







2.  Click Add Mission.


The New Missions page is displayed with the Mission tab enabled.





Note:  All fields in light blue are mandatory.


3.  Under Mission Details section,

  1. Enter the name of the mission in the Mission Name field. 

  2. Enter the case ID in the External Case ID field. 

  3. Select a customer from the Customer dropdown list.  To add a new customer, refer to How to Add Customers?

  4. Select a project from the Project dropdown list.  To add a new project, refer to How to Add a New Project? 

  5. Select a location from the Locations dropdown list.  To add a new location, refer to How to Add a New Location?

  6. Select the date and time from the Date dropdown list.

  7. Check the box Multi Day if you plan to conduct the mission on multiple days.


  Note:  The End Date dropdown calendar is displayed on checking Multi Day from which you need to select the end date of the mission.



  1. Enter the estimated duration of the flight during the mission in the Estimated Duration field in hours: minutes: seconds format.

  2. Select the type of flight from the Flight Type dropdown field.

Enter the maximum above ground level altitude in feet that you plan to attain during the flight in Max AGL Altitude (meters) field.


4.  Under Notes and Tags section,



  1. Enter any note if you wish in the General Notes textbox.

  2. Add tags you wish to link the mission to in the Tags field.


5.  Under the Compliance section,



  1. Select the type of operation from the Operation Type dropdown list.

  2. Enter the authorization related to LAANC in the LAANC Authorization field.

  3. Select the type of operation approval obtained from the Ops Approval Type dropdown list.

  4. Select the type of legal rule you have from the Legal Rule dropdown list.

  5. Enter the details regarding the legal rule selected in the Legal Rule Detail field.

Note:  The legal rule will vary depending on your country.

  1. Check the box Night Flight if you plan the mission to operate in the night.

  2. Select the operational scenarios according to SORA from the Operational Scenarios dropdown list.

  3. Select the risk assessment according to SORA from the Risk Assessment dropdown list.

  4. Select the final sail according to SORA from the Final Sail dropdown list.


6.  Under Inspection Details,



  1. Enter the asset that is inspected in the Inspected Asset field.

  2. Enter the number of assets in the # of Assets field.


7.  Click Next.


The Personnel tab is enabled and the Mission Personnel page is displayed.



8.  Under Mission Personnel section,



  1. Select the pilot you wish to assign the mission to from the Pilot dropdown list.

  2. Select the visual observer for the mission from the Visual Observer dropdown list.

  3. Select the payload operator for the mission from the Payload Operator dropdown list.

  4. Select the instructor or supervising pilot for the mission from the Instructor/ Supervising Pilot dropdown list.

  5. Select others from the Others dropdown list.


Note:  You can select multiple personnel from the Visual Observer, Payload Operator Instructor/ Supervising Pilot, and Others dropdown list.


  1. Check the box Is a Single Personnel Flight? if the mission is a single pilot flight.

  2. Enter any notes if needed regarding the personnel in the Personnel Notes textbox.

  3. Check the box Send Email to Inform Pilot if you wish to inform the pilot about the mission planned.


9.  Under the Skills section, select the skills you wish to assign to the pilot.  You can add new skills if needed by clicking Add Skills.  For more information, refer to How to Add/ Edit Skills?



10.  Click Next.


The Drone & Equipment tab is enabled and the Drone and Equipment page is displayed.



Note:  All fields in light blue are mandatory.


11.  Under Drone section,


  1. Select the drone from the Drone dropdown list.  You can add a new drone to your mission by clicking Add New Drone.  For more information, refer to How to Add/ Edit Drones?

  2. Check the availability of the drone by clicking Check Availability.


The Drone Availability calendar dialog is displayed.


  1. Select the date you wish to check the drone availability.  The Drone Availability calendar displays the dates the drones are available along with the number of drones and the name of the drone.

  2. Check the box Enable Blue UAS Only to show the drones that are only listed with Blue UAS. 

  3. Select the drone you wish to add to the mission from the Additional Drones dropdown list.  You can select multiple drones for the mission you are planning.


12.  Under the Equipment On-Board section, you can get the equipment from the kit by clicking Get From Kit.  




a.  Click Get From Kit.


The Kit dialog is displayed.



b.  Check View All Kits to select from all the Kits that contain or do not contain the current drone and select the Kit from the All Kits dropdown list.  You can manage the kit by clicking Click here to manage your Kits For more information, refer to Kits.

c.  Click Set To Flight.


The kit is set and the fields BatteriesCameras/ Gimbals, and Others are autofilled.



You can additionally add the batteries, cameras, gimbals, and other equipment manually.

  1. Select the batteries from the Batteries dropdown list.

  2. Select the cameras and gimbals from the Camera/ Gimbal dropdown list.

  3. Select other equipment from the Others dropdown list.


13.  Under Payload section,



  1. Enter the description for payload in the Payload Description field.

  2. Enter the weight that needs to be carried on the drone in the Payload Weight field.

  3. Enter the amount of fuel to be used in the Fuel Used field.


14.  Click Next.


The Safety tab is enabled and the Safety page is displayed.



15.  Under the Safety section,


  1. Check the box Communication or encounter with police, fire, ems or law enforcement if you wish to be notified regarding any incidents with police, fire, ems, or law enforcements.

  2. Check the box Safety Parachute Carried if you wish the flight to carry a safety parachute.


16.  Under the Contacts section,



  1. Enter the frequencies of the local area in the Local Area Frequencies field.

  2. Enter the contact number in case of emergency in the Emergency Contact Numbers field.


17.  Under the Personnel Protective Equipment section, select the safety equipment needed by checking the box under the safety gears.



18.  Click Next.


The Weather tab is enabled and the Weather page is displayed.



a.  Click Get Weather Forecast for That Day and Location to retrieve the weather condition when the flight takes place.  You can retrieve the weather conditions for the day only if a valid date and geolocation data is entered.


The fields Cloud cover (%), VisibilityTemperatureWind, and Humidity fields are autofilled.


b.  Enter a note if any on the weather condition in the Weather Conditions Notes textbox.


19.  Click Save.


The mission is added.

Note:  You can edit the details of a flight by clicking  icon on the mission you wish to update.
